As you can see I enjoy being challenged in art!

In 2021 the historic Saint John Lutheran Church was vandalized. Someone took the bat to the Jesus statue's head knocking chunks out and leaving cracks over his head and down his robe. His complete right arm was shattered. The left thumb was broken off too. My husband and I had the privilege of restoring the historic altar and statues approximately 10 years ago. (See pics below) This time we have to recreate the arm and hand and attach it to the original statue. It took months to find a model to do a casting of her arm and then shape it to compliment the other hand. All the repaired areas had to be custom color matched to what I had painted before.

One of the two historic angel statues that sit along side the Jesus statue on the altar received extensive damage in the incident.

CUSTOM PAINTED Dresser

This project is not fine art but being an artist, I find myself doing redo furniture. This piece already was unique in itself being highly designed. I repainted the dresser in Provincial Blue and antiqued it in my own custom glaze to give it depth and show texture. I also did the top and trim in copper with a glass like finish.

This historic altar was dedicated to the St. John Lutheran Church of Bartlett, TX on November 18, 1917. It had been touched up through the years & after 94 years, my husband and I believed God had spoke to our hearts to fully restore the altar. The paint was worn & peeling; the gold leaf was chipping & crazed; some of the corbels had fallen off; the statue of Jesus and the Lord's Supper plaque had extensive chips, cracks and fading of the paint. The gold leaf was too expensive to replace so I repainted all of it with a 'Dutch Metal' paint. The project took approx. 2 months. Here are a few pics of the complete altar restoration...

Scaffolding was used to get to the top of the altar; top pieces were removed for repair and the altar primed white.

I was asked to restore the angels that use to sit on the altar. They were in need of extensive repair. One angel had a wing that needed reattaching and reshaping. Both needed chips filled in all over.
