This historic altar was dedicated to the St. John Lutheran Church of Bartlett, TX on November 18, 1917. It had been touched up through the years & after 94 years, Sandy & her husband believed God had spoke to their hearts to fully restore the altar. The paint was worn & peeling; the gold leaf was chipping & crazed; some of the corbels had fallen off; the statue of Jesus and the Lord's Supper plaque had extensive chips, cracks and fading of the paint. The gold leaf was too expensive to replace so Sandy repainted all of it with a 'Dutch Metal' paint. The project took approx. 2 months. Here are a few pics of the complete altar restoration...

Sandy was asked to restore the angels that use to sit on the altar. They were in need of extensive repair. One angel had a wing that needed reattaching and reshaping. Both needed chips filled in all over.
